Well...it's day 4 of the liquid diet. I'm down nearly 10lbs from when I got on the scale on Monday morning. Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of doing stuff like this; the whole idea of the band (for me, anyway) was to be able to do something more healthy, and sustainable in the long term, without having to resort to stuff like this. That said...:
I can't lie to you...it's been awesome getting on the scale and seeing a drop every single morning. It's been a LONG time since that's happened. Maybe since the original liquid diet. But I also can't lie that I've been perfect. First of all, I'm supposed to have 3 shakes per day, along with low carb veggies. I planned for 2 shakes per day, because I know I just can't face three of those things in a day. The last 2 days I've managed one of them. Plus coffee, tea, water, and a Babybel cheese here and there. I've also had some walnuts, sunflower seeds, and on Tuesday I did have vodka, but that was strictly for the safety of those around me.
Every bit of food I've put in my mouth has had no carbs or virtually no carbs. And there's been precious little. But it does seem to be working. Although I am HUNGRY as SHIT a lot of the time, the hunger is waning. I'm also more focused than I've been in months. The hunger isn't ruling me, because I'm DOING something here. And no carb cravings. Seriously.
So...thus far, I'm not suggesting you follow in my footsteps...but at the same time, I'm not suggesting you don't. Because it does seem to be working. However, I think the proof is going to be in the upcoming weeks. Will I be able to sustain the loss? Will one little fuck-up take me back down the carb-craving road again with a vengeance? I dunno. I hope not.
One little fuck up certainly does that for me. I learned that the cravings are not worth the tastee bite.... of anything!
ReplyDeleteAnd the liquid protein diet? I do that all the time .... kinda a jump start! Numbers going down are great!
If the building were on fire we would RUN FAST to get outta there. Even though we don't always RUN in the building! We can do what we have to do in each circumstance. THAT, to me is the sustainable plan! To have a big ol tool box, with all kinds of useful things in it!
By the way - do you take vitamines? LoCarb was hell for me - until I added them to my daily plan. That and Omega 3.
Awesome you!
You're awesome!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I re-did the liquid diet for a week awhile back, I saw the same quick drop in weight. Loved it! I don't think it hurts to revisit that once in awhile. :)
ReplyDeleteI know I tell everyone this, but I am doing the Dukan and have never been happier. LOVE WATCHING THE NUMBERS DROP, TOO!
ReplyDeleteGod, hearing about you doing the shakes is giving me horrific flashbacks of doing the liquid diet myself before surgery! But man those are some great weight loss results... think how amazing you'll be feeling by Christmas. Good work!
ReplyDeleteI think of it more of a reboot. Get rid of all those nasty things in a computer by just restarting. That's kind of what you are doing to. No carbs is the hardest but I know once you are off the crap for a few days, it won't be as appealing. Here's to a successful reboot!! Go ahead, have another vodka.
ReplyDeleteWait. What? Are you telling me that as I'm drinking my first nasty vanilla shake and had planned on three today...that you have only had TWO in total the past couple of days? How is THAT support? Lol! You'd better have at least two today...and NO vodka! Or else! :p
ReplyDeleteGood for you - I need to do something to lose these last few pesky pounds, but ugh, the thought makes me start twitching!
ReplyDeleteYou have given me a great idea! However, I will be starting it on January 6th. We return fr4om Hawaii on the 5th :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading.
ReplyDeletealcohol consumption for the safety of others = I can SO RELATE!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteway to go on the loss girl!
You so rock!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Gilly, I love you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWay to go Gilly!
ReplyDeleteHave you considered juicing? I haven't eaten any solid food in 52 days. I am healthy, not hungry and have more energy than I have ever had. Lost weight along the way as an added benefit. The documentary, free on Netflix, and Hulu, that got me started, is Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, by Joe Cross. Amazing film.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for telling me to follow you here. You have made me laugh and cry a bit I have spent all last night starting from your beginning.
ReplyDeleteIm inspired and I took your advice to start blogging too.
Thanks for being the honest answer I needed - takes ALOT of the fear away - except for the liquid pre-op.
Great blog! - I can relate to this i don't think there is anything wrong with a cleanse, reboot and kickstart!
ReplyDeleteWe do what we need to - we have a tool box
