This is the house where I used to live. I went to the University of Windsor (right across the river from Detroit) and I lived in the most AWESOME house, with 5 other girls...and one bathroom! Back in the day, it had a huge porch on the front of it, and it was just...fun. This weekend I went back to Windsor to visit my cousin who just moved near there...and I dragged my family for the tour. It made me sad to drive down my old street. It's basically right under the Ambassador Bridge (you can see the bridge in the background there), and I guess the owner of the bridge decided he was going to widen it, so he bought out all the houses on that street so he could tear them down and make the bridge bigger. But I'm told that there was some sort of injunction and the government stopped him from doing it (I may be wrong about this...it's what I was told but I was too lazy to actually research it)...so now, the whole street sits there, overgrown and boarded up...the street where I spent soooo many fun (often drunken) times...it's a ghost-town. *sigh*

Me and my big boy B at my University campus.
In other news, I was SUCH a good girl this weekend away! I lost almost 3lbs for the challenge, and I swam every chance I got (in a salt water pool! Holy crap...salt water is the BEST thing...how can I go back to peasant chlorine pools after THAT??) But the most amazing thing is I WALKED EVERYWHERE!! I went to an outlet mall to find a pair of reward Coach sunglasses (I didn't find a pair I loved...sucky) and walked the whole thing...then walked all over my University campus. I was amazed! What amazed me the most was that my brain told me I couldn't do it. My brain was like "oh HELL no!". But what came out of my mouth was "oh let's just walk it". Say WHAT??? And I could! And I DID! Stupid brain! That guy never wants to do anything!
Me and my little one, G, doing some swimming. I think that blurry makes me look better!
This week is the first full week of school's out summer holidays. Right now they are watching a movie, but I am going to try to throw some physical activity in each day. Whether it's bowling, or swimming...or the bike ride I'm going to try this year (WHAAAAAT????? Yes!!) Just something physical. That's my goal for the summer. And that's my story.
You go Gilly girl!!! My brain does the same stupid thing...Wish they would get with the program already, right?!
ReplyDeleteI think that's the whole deal with the Bridge. It's a confusing mess...to me at least. Sad that the whole neighborhood is just vacant now.
Cute kids!! You look great!
3 lbs! That's awesome. That really sucks about your old house. I would be sad too. And you are right about salt water pools. If you are ever in or near New Freedom, PA (about 40 minutes from Baltimore) you are welcome to swim in our salt water pool.
ReplyDeleteGilly congrats on the 3lbs!!! You amazing in that pool shot! Sports Illustrated here you come!
ReplyDeleteI hate to hear when anyone loses their homes in the name of progress but it seems to happen more often now. Great on the swiming, wish I knew how :(
ReplyDeleteSo sad about your sorority house, but great about everything else. I'm going to have to try the blurry tactic in pics... cause you don't even look very blurry, but you do look very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've been increasing my activity level for my children, too. "Hey, let's walk that"... WHO SAID THAT? Oh, it was me... :)
3 pounds.. wow! good job!
ReplyDeleteExcellent on the weight loss. And you tried to convince me you were plateauing. You are superwoman-did you see they are redesigning her? Check the picture on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHave been a little remiss in keeping up with your blog so I'm a bit delayed in congratualting you on being 70lbs down - yeehaw, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look so great in the swimming pool shot.
Good for you! That's so cool that you're incorporating activity with your kids too!
ReplyDeleteGilly, I already loved you and then to find out you went to Uni of Windsor?!?!?! I went to U of Toledo and we used to go to Windsor ALL THE TIME to party when we were underage. Oh, I could tell you about one night at Howl at the Moon. Oy vey. It was not pretty. Actually, I couldn't tell you much about that night! HA!
ReplyDeleteMy friend was actually dating someone from Windsor so we stayed there a lot. Pretty close to where you lived! Small, small world!
Holy shit - that pool picture is awesome. Your face is so skinny and you look like you're 20. My gosh. Awesome on the walking!
ReplyDeleteSo sad about the old house. I have driven past the house that I grew up in and it is depressing to see it now. It is uncared for! Sad! That's awesome that you walked and swam so much too! I walked a lot too and even squeezed my fat self into a swimsuit too! It's amazing what happens when we start losing weight! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGilly....Thats great :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look great in the pool pic!!!! And I used to love going to Windsor!!! I went to Michigan State and we frequently went to Windsor to drink up when we were under 21.. good times!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 3 lbs...once again I'm plateauing.
ReplyDeletePics are adorable and you look awesome in that pool shot.
Love you toots.
OK, first of all, you look completely freaking awesome, especially in the pool. Second, GO YOU on losing 3 pounds for the challenge. I'm impressed. No, seriously, my compliment is genuine. Stop being so cynical all the time, Gilly.
ReplyDeletexoxo
You are doing awesome! Congrats on the loss! Isn't it a bummer to see places you lived in disrepair? I went back to visit my old home in Hawaii and show my husband where I used to live. Sure enough we truend down my street and they had bulldozed the houses and put up a parking lot. I only knew where my house used to be because they kept the huge old tree that was in the yard. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteGilly, you look great!!! :) I love the pool picture!
:-) great job!
ReplyDeletesalt water pools are the best!!!
You really are a super hero!
ReplyDeleteI just read this...sorry a little late! Love the pool pics! A little sadened by the state of your old home. Sucks HUGE! I was just reading about Bob Probert and his sudden death in Windsor, ON! So sad...
