My First Fill

It's happening today at 11:50am. I'm both excited and terrified. I've read a lot of blogs here, but none that really delve into the fill experience...so watch this space for all the gory details, because I plan to post them. Especially if there's gore! Because in my humble opinion, with Valentine's Day looming (see new blog layout), there needs to be a little gore. You know...Valentine's Day, for me, would be much better off as a slasher holiday. "My Bloody Valentine" style. The OLD version, not the new, prettied up one with the dude from Supernatural. I'm talking real, human hearts, getting boiled up with the hot dogs. Awesomeness!

Well...that sort of trailed of in a direction that I did NOT originally intend to go in...anyhoo...wish me luck!

  2. Sitting at Panera near Square One waiting for my appt at Trillium this afternoon so must pretty near you. Hope your fill went well-waiting for the blow-by-blow. I was wondering how long we had to wait for the first fill. I guess it's at 4 weeks. Might come down for that. If not my doc in Ottawa will do it for me. You have such a lovely post about Valentines day. I don't put much into that day much anymore but now you have put me completely off. Betcha can't eat that boiled hotdog tonight-you know the one with the heart. Maybe on Sunday. Will post later tonight about my results, but hope to be on the other side by this time tomorrow. BTW, I told my DH about my blogging and said he was to post if I died during surgery. Then I told him to send you a message to make sure my body gets back to Ottawa. He said, maybe you can give him a band discount-HA-HA-I wouldn't really care would I. Bwwwaaaaahhh haaahaaa. Sounds more like Halloween-we need to get out more.

  3. Hey Gilly!! I agree, not too many of us really post about the Fill experience, unless they had a really bad experience with it!

My Fills have always been done without any pain control, but I really didn't feel anything except pressure! In fact, most that do get the pain shot, says that once they were given the Fill without it, they had less pain!

So far I have had 2 Fills and I am at 4 cc's (no Restriction). I hope your Doctor is more aggressive than mine! Most don't get Restriction until at least 5-6 cc's.

I hope your Fill experience was as uneventful as mine have been!

  4. I wish I would have known you wanted the gory details!! There are a couple of different "methods" so just like with the bandster rules, each doctor does it their own way.

Mine gives me a good shot of the numbing medication, busts out the giant needle, pushes around near where he knows the port is, sticks the giant needle in, hits the port, pulls out all the fluid in the band, and then pushes in the new amount.

It is really painless and super quick! I hope your fill goes smoothly today!!
