My son and DH both finally noticed that I've lost weight. Now...I've decided that weigh-in day is going to be Wednesday; I've always had good luck with Wednesday weigh-in, and I haven't peeked, so I really don't know how I'm doing. But yesterday, I wore a top with a little cling to it, and I guess the cling was enough to show off that I'm getting smaller. Woohoo! And the best part of it...the very BEST part...today, I made a big bucket of spaghetti sauce, and I stood for the whole process, didn't have to sit once (which is a big deal, because my knee usually makes me want to sit down several times during any cooking I do!) My knee is not bothering me nearly as much, and in turn, my back isn't hurting because of the weird way I usually stand. These are weird observations that make me feel like one of the people on the TLC shows about fat people, but they're making me all happy and excited, so, I share them here.
My wounds are healing well. Some of the steri-strips are off...some aren't, and I'm in no big rush to take them off. I'm squeamish to look at them, but they're not hurting or anything, so I assume that's a good thing. I'm onto mushy foods now, and have tolerated everything well. And...shock of shocks...I have had wine, and nothing bad happened! Tonight, I had 1 measured cup of the sauce I made (no pasta, obviously) and it was SO good and SOOOO filling! I'm much happier now that I can have food again!
This week I have my 2 week check up at the SWLC, and I also have my appointment with the knee surgeon. I can't believe that 2 weeks ago right now, I was waiting for surgery. It feels like much longer ago. At this point, I'm pretty stinkin' delighted with how things are going. I've also joined a site called Spark People where I am recording my daily food intake, and learning a lot about weight loss and nutrition. If you haven't heard of it, I recommend you check it out!
Fantastic NSV's!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It's those little things that really count, like being able to stand for longer periods of time. If you really need a knee replacement, losing weight will help so much after the surgery.
ReplyDeleteOh I don't think I need a replacement. Just some torn ligaments and some bone chunks in there to clean out. If they say replacement, my answer will be NO WAY!!
