Dear Americans:

Can one (or several) of you please explain to me the Lane Bryant fit system for their jeans?  What the hell does red and yellow mean?  Size 4...WHAT???  I looked on the LB website and I think I might actually know less now than when I started.  I am desperate for some jeans, and it seems that a lot of people wear these...how do I know if I want some?  Help a Canadian sistah out!

  1. HAHA!! I'm an American and I still have NO IDEA of what size they are. All I know is that they do fit better than regular jeans. They take into account measurements instead of standard sizing.
I squeezed my tush into a size 4 Red today and last time I checked I fit into a 20 regular (Not 20W) at Old Navy.
    This might help: http://www.rightfit.com/

  2. hahah...I love any post that starts with Dear Americans. It makes me giggle.

It is so stupid their sizing. THere are 3 colors. Red, Yellow, Blue. The website should tell you what shape they are for. Red is what I wore. It is when you have an hourglass figure. LIke normal jeans gap in the waist but may fit in the hips. Blue I BELIEVE are for pear shaped and yellow is for the straight up and down folks. When I was a size 26/28 I wore a 7. Now as a size 16 I wear a size 2. I think a 12/14 would be a size 1.

    Hope that helps!

    :)

  3. Gilly - I just realized I have a pair of size 6 Right Fits (they are from Fashion Bug, not Lane Bryant) that I'm giving away. I'm not sure what size you need but I can send them to you if can use them. That way you can check them out yourself for free. There is a photo of them on my blog here: http://jenslapbandjourney.blogspot.com/2010/03/sisterhood.html

  4. lol yeah Fat Chicks R Us (as I call Lane Bryant!) is kinda silly! I almost think that they went to the single digit sizes on jeans to make us happy..."Oh I wear a size 7!" bleh I'm pretty sure Amy is right about what the colors and numbers mean, as far as the sizes go there is a speacial way of measuring that they do, I believe that on the site there is a "tutorial" on how to do it at home. I am a Red and almost out of a 7, my other jeans are either 26 or 28, but getting baggy!!

  5. Stupidest damn sizing system ever. it's like they decided to try and make women feel better by not saying the "real" size. I can't figure them out, either. Maybe if they just said 22 and then color coded, I would know where to begin...Who was the marketing genius who came up with this one? Probably some skinny size 2 waif.

  7. I think LB new sizing is so stupid. I was in there on Saturday because I have gone down a size in jeans and the lady gave me what she thought I would wear and they didn't fit and then I tried on what I used to wear and they didn't fit. I got pissed and walked out.

  8. And why color codes? Like I don't have enough passwords and codes to remember already! They're just PANTS!!! Get over yourself Lane Giant.

I'm an apple shape and got whatever respective color code that is in a size 4. The legs were still too baggy. I didn't complain cuz that's how it would be if I'd have gone anywhere else anyway.

I do like the way their clothes fit overall though. Pants-wise at least. I'm a shorty and their shirts are always too long.

  9. Lane Giant. Now THAT'S funny!! Jen...I will take you up on those pants! I will have to do some crossing of the border, I think. Just as well anyway...I need some bras, and I love theirs, and they stopped shipping to Canada! Can you imagine such a thing?? Me either!

You womens are wonderful! I am hourglass, I think...but maybe I'm a pear...who knows? Wonder what's buried under all this? Hopefully soon, we'll know!
